Jericho Green Up Day Breakfast and Posters - Photos

Tradition! Tradition! Tradition! Jericho retains the Green Up Day Vermont tradition with gusto, caring, and contribution from many of the town's residents.

On Friday some creative folks gathered at the community center for the town's 1st Annual Green Up Day Poster-Making Event. Thank You to Jessica Alexander (Jericho Green Up Day coordinator).

GREEN UP DAY 2019 OPENING ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Green Up Day Honorees:
The Board of the Community Center in Jericho welcomes you to our 2019 Green Up Day Breakfast.  Every year we recognize the contributions of citizens to the community of Jericho as well as to the well-being of this center.

Bob Schermer is President of the Jericho Center Preservation Association which owns this community Center building. As President, he works tirelessly to keep this old building in good shape. He keeps a sharp eye out for building problems and takes the lead in addressing its needs. In addition, as JCPA President, he deals with the Town about traffic issues, monitors development in the area, and many other jobs that crop up. Bob is a tireless worker, dependable and thorough, as well as being very pleasant and easy to work with.

Bernie Paquette writes a blog and articles for the Mountain Gazette that contribute to our appreciation and valuing of this community we live in. Bernie shows up at many community events and takes great photographs of these Jericho happenings. (A couple of his photos are in the recently published Community Center brochure.) He keeps the community apprised of the changing seasons and local birds as well as holidays such as Valentine's Day..

Both these men contribute so much of themselves, their time, and efforts, to enhance our community, so we want to acknowledge them this morning. Let's give 3 cheers to Bob and Bernie!

Remembrance:
This morning we also want to remember and honor Brooks Buxton.  Brooks loved his hometown of Jericho.  He was a key supporter and benefactor of our annual Green Up Day Breakfast here in Jericho and VT’s statewide Green Up Day program.

GREEN UP DAY DETAILS:
At the end of Announcements- Elizabeth Bernstein will provide a tutorial on safety measures to utilize when picking up sharp items such as needles.

Please check-in at the map at the entrance to look for unassigned clean-up zones.  Bags are also located at the entrance.

Bags may be dropped off at the Town Garage on Browns Trace by 2pm.

Bernie's Note: Elizabeth also praised Nate Ely for his beautiful build and installation of the new Community Center entrance stairs. And thanked him for offering to pick up a truckload of bags of littered trash set aside on a series of Jericho roads and delivering them to the drop off-site.
