Jericho Green Up Day "PICKINGS" Photos

                                  Most unusual Trash find!

It all starts many months before the first Saturday in May when Green Up Day occurs. Like any well run event, the behind the scenes work requires time, patience, coordination. Jessica Alexander, Renee Burger, and others contributed to the arrangements for this year's Jericho Green Up Day.

Indeed residents of Jericho came with a
"Let's Do This" spirit AND a smile!

How about every politician that leaves signage alongside the road, be required to plant flowers at those locations?

There is treasure (trash) in them Jericho hills!

Wow, many of the smiling Jericho folks
could be ambassadors for Green Up Vermont!

                                                         Yup, these guys nailed it!

Nate Ely is a talented landscaper stoneworker-Mason and Stonework Specialist, (Renaissance Landscaping), and community helping hand deluxe. He often recognizes folks in need of a hand and steps in to help individuals as well as the town as a whole. Nate picked up a full dump truck load of Green Up Pickings folks set on the side of the road, and brought the load to the drop off site. Thank You Nate for your caring and contributions to Jericho and its residents on a year round basis.

Three times the shovel came down on the tube
and three times it popped back up.

THANK YOU BOY SCOUTS!

Some folks made return trips!

Many folks spoke of large numbers of wine boxes and bottles.
Perhaps in the future the wine container 'droppers' might either carry the waste to a trash container, or start leaving white table cloths and candles and full bottles and boxes of wine.

Bottom half of Governor Peck Road in particular seems to be a hot dining and wine-ing spot. Perhaps it is the ambience.

It can be a dirty job -
glad there are Jericho residents willing to get the job done!

Tradition! Tradition! Tradition! Jericho retains the Green Up Day Vermont tradition with gusto, caring and contribution from many of the town's residents.

Spear fishing anyone?

Nate Pelletier, a Jericho town employee, cheerfully managed the drop off site on Green Up Day. What a pleasure it was to meet and talk with him. We can thank him for that and the great plowing and road grading work he does for the town. Side note: Nate is a competitive horseshoe pitcher and has competed in the Nationals.

Some of the trash came with its own bin!

Do not know what was in this bag.
I did not dare ask for a look or smell.

I bet Nate was really great at the game
"Kick the Can" when he was a kid.

Nate Ely, perhaps you should connect with Nate Pelletier and the horseshoe club! Nice toss!

No worries folks, Maeve and I recovered the netting and will re-use it
over some of our berry bushes.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO A CLEANER AND THEREBY HEALTHIER AND MORE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF JERICHO.
