Happy Valentine's to Nature

Showing Nature We Care on Valentine's Day

Boldly go out

side step social solicitations of wealth

measure your gains

by footsteps in the snow as pure white of heart

there is no doubt.

Seek signs and signals
life shows herself

feathers and fur

look low for tracks and high in tall trees

Though much is still,

hearts still beat with hibernating signals.

Nature seems weak and tired

in her winter slumber

but awaken her early

and you might as well approach

a bear not entirely retired.

So quietly do step

or slide on ski

yet leave allowance -

giggles gather, just as

snowflakes on the nose
make up for cold toes.

Mother Nature
does not sleep deep
nor mourns out loud
unless

we forget

to love and visit her.

On this Valentine’s Day
shall we remember
her warm hairs ticking our toes

her bubbling fountain
as we lay in spring fields?

On this Valentine’s Day
what most treasured
visit

in Nature will we recall
when we ran through the woods all-day

in play?

For this time of quarantine
will you ask
 her to BEE your Valentine?

Create a buzz
of a Nature Love Project
showing
Nature

we

Care!

Observation by Judy W. of Jericho
In our little woods beside Willow Brook, there are two trees that form an arch through which to walk for deer and humans.  Their branches reach out to each other and embrace each other gently, and the red squirrel and chipmunk travel across their boughs.

WINTER

by Tammy Morissette

Winter is made for knitting

I’ve just decided that.

So, here I’ll be sitting

by the fire with the cat;

for a likely long spell

I can already tell.

It’s not only snowing

but now windy and blowing!

So bitter cold

And I’m too old,

And too tired of such.

As a matter of fact -

I’ve never liked it much!

Hmm, so, which will it be -

 a hat or a sweater?

I’m betting it’s better

to knit them both for me.

And maybe a scarf

And likely some mittens;

Oh darn -

I hope I have enough yarn!

Now, the cat and I are both

having kittens - so to speak —

Ugh. All that snow on the peak!

Yes, ok, I’ll admit it’s kinda pretty,

But to tell the truth -

it’s just driving me knitty!
