Interpreting Jericho, Vermont Winter Skies

Sometimes the winter sky impersonates a summer sky. In this case, the Jericho photo is of a fall sky with a little creative technical adjustment to the photo to create winter white trees.

Snow-laced trees on a gray day seem to arrest our fixation on always having to do something.

Were we to bring back the glorious orange, purple, yellow, and blue skies of November surely our expectations of winter would be different than when we look upon the gray days of December.

Same scene only different colors, textures, temperature, and temperament.

Perhaps we can, if only in our minds, create the perfect mix of colorful optimism, resurgence, a view of a bright tomorrow,

with the grounded acceptance of hibernation, gray skies, and trees covered with a warm blanket of white snow.

Nature sets the stage. We do our part by interpreting her moods with the language of the arts: reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, and visual representation. We choose to think narrowly in black and white or in the full panorama that nature offers us.

Happy Holidays,
Bernie
