Invasive Honeysuckle Management: Mills Riverside Park
When: May 20, 2023, 10 AM to 12 PM
Where: Mills Riverside Park, Vermont 15, Jericho, VT
Mills Riverside Park has a honeysuckle plant species that are invasive, spreading, and that competes aggressively with native plants, can destroy biodiversity, and permanently alter habitats through both direct and indirect effects.
We invite you to join us - JFiN (Jericho Families in Nature), the Jericho Underhill Park District, the Jericho Conservation Commission, and the Jericho Trails Committee - on Saturday, May 20, from 10 AM-Noon to cut down invasive honeysuckle at Mills Riverside Park.
Bring loppers, hand saws, gloves, safety glasses, and water to drink. Dress as appropriate for tick protection. The plan is to do mostly cutting, (to prevent seed spread and to diminish the strength of the plants), though we may do some pulling up of roots as well. It can take annual visits (cutdown management) to an area over consecutive seasons to really clear the potentially seed-bearing plants.
