Inspired by Snowflake Bentley's birthday on February 9th and a desire to provide some physically distanced community connection in the winter days, the Community Center in Jericho invited local residents to celebrate Snowflakes together between February 6th and February 14th.
Wilson Bentley was born on February 9th 1865.
"Wilson Alwyn Bentley (February 9, 1865 – December 23, 1931), also known as Snowflake Bentley, was an American meteorologist and photographer, who was the first known person to take detailed photographs of snowflakes and record their features." Read more about Bentley at Wikipedia.
Here are a few of the images I captured for the Snowflake Celebration, celebrating snow, snowflakes and snow activities.

Also, The Snowflake Bentley Volunteer Corps recorded a reading of the "Snowflake Bentley" children's book by Jacqueline Briggs Martim, illustrated by Mary Azarian.
Narration was done by Sue Richardson, the great-grandniece of "Snowflake" Bentley. It was filmed in the "Snowflake" Bentley room at the Old Red Mill in Jericho, Vermont!
Visit the Bentley Exhibit at the Jericho Historical Society. It is open Thur, Fri and Sat 11-4. Admission is free. For more info and to view his photographs visit: https://snowflakebentley.com/

Bernie - Once again, your FPF post is the most warming thing to grace my inbox all week. Thank you for the continued COVD therapy. Can't tell you how much we appreciate your photos, comments and community spirit. Denise D.
Wow, Bernie! Those are some fantastic photos! I think my favorite is the sun looking like a snowflake. I will look at them several times. Some very amusing ones I love too. Are those all snowmen you have constructed or just photographed elsewhere or are these ones submitted to the Celebration? Thanks for sending to me. Julia
Me again. I have to tell you that I sent your photos to several family members in SC who love snow and and like seeing what it's like up here. My niece is a special ed teacher and showed the photos to her students. Said they all loved them. So thanks! Julia
Just wanted to share our attempt to honor love and snowflakes this year! Hope you’re staying warm. -Anna
