They were always there for us. We utilized their services. People gave of themselves every day. And that was before Covid-19.
Now we recognize more than ever how much we depend on, how much we rely on, how important the essential people in our communities are to us in short-term disasters, in this current long-term epidemic, and in normal times as well.
Perhaps it does take a crisis to awaken our strongest sense of gratitude for the people who keep us whole when the pieces are separating, don't fit, are missing, or are difficult to come by.
Now, these essential people are living the role they have always filled for us, only now they are doing so in an environment that places them at additional risk in order to be in the places and situations to help and care for us.
We are keeping our distance physically, wearing masks, washing hands frequently.... we also are seeking ways to Thank the essential people. Thank You Essential People for coming to work, for being there for us now and before.
Below are just a few examples of the displays in Jericho, Vermont of Thanks for the Essential People that have always been there for us. Only now we recognize more than before, what a critical function each of these individual people plays in support of each of our lives.
Let's keep finding more ways to say thank you. Pizza, flowers, chocolates, coffee, donations, cards/letters, tips, sidewalk chalk messages, thank you meals, mask making, and other acts of kindness and appreciation. These people are helping to hold us together, let's help hold them up!
