The wetland and pond, milkweeds, sumac, grasses, red twig dogwood, slopes, and trails at the beaver pond offer quiet, nature, serenity. One can find Monet images, Robert Frost poems, and pure Vermont landscape at the beaver pond.
It's not necessary to go far and wide. I mean, you can really find exciting and inspiring things within your home town. ~Daryl Hannah
beaver pond in Jericho Center
We still have places to go to find solitude.
Where our footsteps can be heard
as water trickles through beaver dams
cattails and milkweed seeds float about on a whim.
Sunlight and clouds and breeze change the landscape
as well as the micro views
with uncanny ability
to change solid shapes and colors.
Trails invite, then sequester us away from...
no island is this nor are we
but this land is somehow new to us
speaks to us directly
like a neighbor we have lived near for so long
without ever knowing their name or the sound of their voice.
Whole villages live here
yet scarcely a track do we see (unless we look closely).
Here we are the disturbance
so walk softly.
Sit on the cement bench a while
Lookout
Listen
cause not a ripple
the fabric of solitude is delicate.
Allow trickles of water
floating milkweed and cattail feathers to
tickle your fancy and lighten your load.
