It's Hot in Vermont

Four days of excessive heat and humidity in Vermont. What is one to do? Follow my muse as I contemplate a hotter Vermont.

It’s hot
in Vermont
who would ever have thought
four days of
excessive heat in which we are caught.

We welcome dry heat
but this thick humid air
is not a treat.
In order to move, one must cut through it like an invisible curtain.

However, this is certain
though the high temps
may make our blood boil
-try to remain calm and hydrated
sooner than we care
come time for the fair
Vermont weather will turn
then we will need to boil
to keep our feet warm
as we cut through temperatures that begin to feel like a cold iron curtain.

We can put more layers on for the cold you say.
Vermont has no law against public nudity I say.

Enjoy, refrain from being profane,
though it be a strain
soon a cool front preceded by rain
will be caused to spin the vinyl

Its hot Vermont
It is humid and hot.
Arizona, California,
you are so dry you only fry
we join Florida and Georgia
in the fryer to boil.
(Perhaps it comes from using too much oil.)

Look at the good side
we could always count
on two days of summer each year (in VT)
now four or more will be our guide.

To resist is futile
excessive humidity and heat
cannot be beat
we will just have to live with smelly feet
or stay in our seats.

Frozen or fried, both can be brutal.
Bear resilience - a Vermont weather byword
as for (extreme) hot and cold
for sure there will be more.
